The requirements were very precise: “We want dark, we want visual and we want movement.” The challenge we faced was to successfully combine their three conditions. Dark backgrounds are difficult to work with and can become quite unpleasant to browse through if not executed with care. We had to find a solution that would provide some relief while still incorporating their extensive library of visuals, videos, diagrams and copy. The varying content and complex details needed to be translated in a clear and concise manner, with a focus on their four key divisions and their case studies.
Only a truly interactive website, coupled with bright, bold imagery, would solve the challenge put forward by Pavegen. We set about looking for a balance by combining the latest in web development trends with contemporary design techniques, to achieve the desired results. Choosing not to approach this with your basic layered website structure, we opted for a grid format that ensured harsh areas were broken up with colourful high contrast images and white space. We used this grid structure to also showcase their impressive portfolio in an unexpected way, ensuring their solutions were always within eye view of the consumer. In addition, the message displayed the simplicity and balance we were after.
The content was divided into four key sectors: Smart Cities, Retail Technologies, Dynamic Learning, and Brand Activation – all dedicated to a very specific area of focus within the Pavegen offering. Each page highlighted that sector’s unique proposition, four key products or services within that sector and its relevant case studies.
